
The theme for 2007's retreat was "A Word to the Other". Dr. John Nunes, our presenter, described the theme in this way:
Is there a Word from the Lord for those who are outside of the Truth? How do postmodernist ideas impact the way God’s proclaimed Word is developed and delivered? This workshop will reflect on the most awesome mystery of all: how the Holy Spirit carries our ordinary words, weaving faith, in spite of our own and our hearers’ fragmented lives full of suspicious resistance. The style of presentation will be practical and self-reflexive, making room for the local wisdom of all participants. Please bring your Bible and The Book of Concord as we revolve our talks around Martin Luther’s notion that “Faith is the debt that is owed to truth, and there is no truth except God alone." Our theme for this year's retreat was "Workmen Approved: A Retreat Workshop on the Craft of Preaching". Our theme verse was 2 Timothy 2:15: “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” Our guest presenter for this year was Rev.
